2007 MBO-TO-MBO Trade Conference Report
Dear Friends,
On behalf of our entire AAPP Board of Directors we wish to thank the following individuals and organizations for an extremely productive, well attended and dynamic MBO TRADE CONFERENCE, 2007.
THANK YOU to all of the wonderful attendees who took time out of their busy schedules to invest in time and financially in this statewide collaborative event. This event is for all of our ethnic partners across all ethnic backgrounds and
organizations. We reached out to each and every ethnic business
community and were rewarded by most with their attendance and solid
participation. This is OUR event, meaning ALL of ours. It’s a
collaborative effort of communities working together towards the actualization of our common economic goals. AAPP is simply a small part of a larger mosaic of organizations.THANK YOU to all who cared enough to show up and
participate.... we appreciate and salute you!
- Key Bank: Keynote Speaker: James R. Peoples, President, Key Bank,
outstanding keynote speech, and for his great support of the MBO
Conference. To Poppie Parrish for coming out with her team from
Corporate Headquarters, Cleveland to speak and be part of an important
panel.- PSRC and Regional Prosperity Partnership: David Della, Bob Drewel, and
Eric Schinfeld for his outstanding collaboration and coordinating work.
Enterprise Seattle, - Jeff Marcel for his leadership and commitment to working on the Partnering Works Committee. We appreciate your support Jeff and the support of our partnership with Enterprise Seattle
- King County: Outstanding speech by Executive Ron Sims! Tremendous, solid and consistent support by George Northcroft, and the entire staff in support of the MBO Trade Conference.
- City of Bellevue: Mayor Degginger, and City Manager, Rob Derrick, and
Bellevue Chamber, Executive Director, Betty Nokes, what a wonderful and
solid show of support from all of you.
- Pierce County-Tacoma: Executive John Ladenburg for his continued solid
support, Lyle Quasim his Chief of Staff for his outstanding participation and insights at the conference,-Port of Tacoma, Director of Maintenance, Louis Cooper, an outstanding presentation as well as thanks to his entire team attending from the Port of Tacoma, great job!
We recognize Dr. Solomon Uwadiale and Dalton Gittens, for their
wonderful insights and participation representing the Black Collective (Tacoma) as well.
- State of Washington: General Administration: Linda Villegas-Bremer,
Executive Director for her impassioned commitment to economic parity
and opportunity and John Lynch, P.E. for his strong and solid work month
after month working to change procedures which will greatly enhance
contractual opportunity and fairness for MBO firms. John's insights and
speech were greatly appreciated as well.
- University of Washington: Michael Verchot, Director, BEDC for his
strong and solid insights on the Washington MBO Survey, in conjunction
with the excellent Survey Results Presentation by Dr. William
Bradford, Professor of Finance.
- Port of Seattle: Renee Finney, who gave an excellent speech on the new directions the Port is taking under its new Chief Executive Officer, Tay Yoshitani.
- AHANA and the Multi-Ethnic Business Alliance: Ben Cabilido, ED, AHANA
and Chair of MEBA, for coming in with his associates from Spokane to
speak on behalf of the efforts of both organizations. Ben gave an
outstanding presentation on the direction and focus of MEBA, which
includes members, AHANA, AAPP, TABOR 100, Filipino Chamber of Commerce.
Great job Ben!
- Filipino Chamber Alex Borromeo: President of: Everyone in attendance
during Alex's speech will appreciate the candor and positive approach
for collaboration and inclusiveness articulated by Alex, great job!
- Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Bellevue Diversity Task Force: Pauline
Lau, Elaine Chan and May Wan were simply FANTASTIC and inspiring as they
delivered their commitment to inclusiveness and how we can all work
together in the future! Great job!
- TABOR 100 Past President, Craig Dawson, standing in for current
President Leon Rowland who was ill. Great job Craig, your spontaneous
and extremely insightful observations on TABOR and how we can all work
together are greatly appreciated!
- Seattle Chamber of Commerce: President, Steve Leahy, who came directly
to the event after a long trans-continental flight from Japan. Wow! What a commitment, we salute you Steve and look forward to a strong and solid working relationship with the Seattle Chamber of Commerce!
- NW American Indian Development Mereidth Edwards: Manger: for her
continued and consistent support around the Conference, and the continued development of inclusiveness and bringing Native American firms and organizations into a partnership with MEBA.
